Our youngest child, Tony, turns 25 on 28/1/09.  Tony was born at 251/2 weeks.  The arn’t that many ‘happy’ memories of his birth until he was finally discharged from hospital – the day after he was due!  Tony was born at the Mater Mother’s Hospital in Brisbane and because we had three other children I returned home to care for them and air freighted my breast milk every week day.  Then every Friday night we would pack up the children and drive to Brisbane to visit Tony.  This ritual went for 3 1/2 months.  Everyone was sooooo pleased when he came home.  Now 25 years later I barely believe that the time has flown so quickly and now have this amazing young man who defied all odds not only to live but to achieve his ambition to teach mathematics.  (…….his prognosis was that “he would be a good potter or gardener, and we were never to give him any problem solving exercises to do – it would be way too taxing!!!!!).  Tony completed his pure maths degree at U.N.E. in 2007 and has finished his first year of secondary teaching at Trangie Central School last year.  He is also plays the guitar – very well.

Happy Birthday beautiful son, may there be many, many more!

I have a demonstration on Saturday afternoon and the hostess would also like some information on the container classes that I intend to hold this year.  So I quickly whipped this one up this morning so that I have something to show her.  This will be one of the many containers that you can make at my new Crafty Container Class.  Please  contact me for details and bookings of classes.

The containers will be all shapes, sizes and designs and what a great way to give a gift!  Such simple things become so special when they are given in such a cute container.

Enjoy

Let’s go backpacking!!!

There are a lot of these back packs getting around various blogs at the moment.  I’m not sure who created the template, but I originally saw them on Lovely Leonie from Stamp-a-latte, blog.

They are really handy to pop in some chocolates or even small gifts (like lip gloss, hair clips and scrunchies).  Tailor them to suit the recipient and what a great gift they make.

Phone me for classes on the backpacks.  For just $15  you can create your own backpack and take home the template to make lots more!  Classes for the next few months are booking heavily, so if you want to do a back pack class or merely just want to take advantage of  Sale-a-bration, call me for a class booking or to place your order.

This is the side to back view of this gorgeous wee back pack.

My friend Laurel, has just finished her B.Teach (primary) and was not hopeful of obtaining a position in our area (in the teaching profession this area is very, very sought after!) I told her (in one of my rash, weak moments) that if she won a teaching position in this area I would make one of these for each of her students.

You don’t need to guess!  Laurel won a position in her home town and starts teaching year 3 at St. Joseph’s Alstonville this year.

I’ve now to make 23 of these back packs.  Me and my mouth!!!!!

Well done Lolly.  You so deserve that job.  Lucky, lucky year 3 to have such a dedicated and lovely person as your teacher.
